Samurai

The samurai were skilled warriors that only answered to the daimyo that they worked for and the daimyo only answered to the shogun. The samurai wielded enormous amounts of power even though they made up a measly 10% of the total population.
The samurai followed the Bushido code, an unwritten set of rules that  called for honor, loyalty, and bravery. It parallels the chivalry code in medieval Europe. The samurai also used Zen Buddhism as a calming sensation during battle.
